WEDDING TIP: How long should you wait to book your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

When booking services for your wedding, wedding photography and wedding videography are limited to how many clients they can serve per weekend, unlike a candy buffet or wedding dress which can be unlimited. Unless they have a number of different teams and various photographers and wedding videographers, once they’re booked they’re no longer available. As you can imagine, the good ones definitely book up fast. So how long do you wait to book them? As soon as possible. Simply, the longer you wait, the odds go down that you’ll be able to hire your first picks. Then it’s a matter of who’s left over or still has availability left.

Once in a while we’re actually asked for our remaining available dates so couples can plan their wedding date around us (which is incredibly thrilling!) which is one possible solution if you were determined to get somebody specific. Generally, dates start filling up one to two years in advance so as soon as you get engaged, get excited and start planning! Good luck!

WEDDING TIPS: Seeing yourself in the best light – How to use lighting for videography & photography

How will you remember your wedding day? Your wedding photographs and wedding video will paint a lot of those images for you. This is why just knowing a few simple things can dramatically enhance those lifelong images and memories and help ensure everyone looks their best. This is generally your wedding videographer or photographer’s job but won’t they be pleasantly surprised when they see that you, the bride or groom, have already thought ahead about the lighting!

Always be aware of where the light is in any situation is and face it! (There are creative exceptions to this.) When preparing at home or at the hotel before the ceremony festivities, try to set up your space (for make up, hair, putting on the dress) near large, bright windows. Windows create soft lighting which is very aesthetically pleasing. Stick to natural lighting as much as possible. Especially try to avoid mixed lighting, having a bright light bulb on one side and a window on the other. In pictures and video, this will make half your face red and the other half blue – half lobster, half smurf. Not flattering.

Taking these lighting tips into consideration will transform the beauty of your wedding video and photographs and help show who you really are. Remember, go to the light!

WEDDING TIP: Photo/Video Trends – Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Following the latest trends is exciting and cool! Whether it’s looking for ideas for wedding decor, wedding dresses, or checking out different photo or video approaches, people are often attracted by the most modern, unique and innovative styles. Specifically with wedding photography and videography, the way your photographer and videographer chooses to capture and present your big day will last with you forever. FOR EVER. You want to make sure their work stands the test of time. Any special effects or anything too extreme (way too bright, way too saturated, etc.) will eventually get outdated and look cheesy. You want to be sure in ten and twenty years your images and wedding film are still appealing and look great! Following trendy styles is fun. But trends also die. You don’t want your precious wedding memories to be washed away with that. You can’t undo your pictures or video. Yes, art is subjective but you also don’t want to be stuck with a wedding video with soft white clouds around the border and animated hearts floating around you or any other modern special FX equivalent. Happy planning!

Christina & Andrew’s Beautiful Wedding Film – London/Toronto Wedding Videography / Cinematography

The gorgeous Christina and Andrew were wedded on a beautiful, sunny summer day and when they were originally deciding where to host their celebration, it was clear it had to be on their family farm. I love the vibe of everyone together on such a personal setting! They have a charming story of the fateful day that they met and this day on this farm is where their story of destiny has led them. Congratulations Christina and Andrew!

Denise & Darroll’s Cinematic Wedding Trailer – London, Ontario Videography – Destination Cinematography

What makes two people compatible? This beautiful trailer seems like an instruction book for that. Denise is so sweet and bubbly which complements Darroll’s lovingness and intelligence. Her energy and watching them being silly together can’t help but make you smile! And the depth of Darroll’s heart can’t be fit into this short preview. Their film will be a very emotional story!

What especially makes these two such a classy, respectable couple is how grounded and normal they are despite Darroll’s professional NHL career being in the public spotlight. As shared in their speeches and longer wedding video,

They got married at St. Justin’s church in London and celebrated their wedding reception at the UWO Great Hall in London Ontario. Guests were able to enjoy the unique patio setting, pictures were taken on the green grounds of the mighty university and the party was rocking all night!

Meaghan & Kyle’s Beautiful Cinematic Wedding Film – London, Ontario Wedding Cinematography / Toronto Ontario Wedding Videographers

Not your typical fete for this creative and original couple! Their fun wedding included unique touches like Meaghan’s bouquet made from her family and friends vintage brooches, the multiplex cake(s) made by Meaghan, Meaghan’s sister Alexis BEAUTIFULLY singing at the church and reception, unorthodox wedding pictures skating on ice and all while also celebrating the new year!

What I found so encouraging was how easy going they were about everything! No complaining about tripping on her dress on the ice (3 times) or getting dirty.

And despite some people saying they’re shy, they made no reservation about sharing their love with the world on that day! It shines through brightly in their film.

The mighty St. Peter’s Basilica and the Lamplighter Inn made for stunning backdrops for their day.

Canadian New Year’s Eve Skating Wedding Video Trailer – Meaghan & Kyle – London, Ontario Cinematography & Videography

What. A. Day! I’ve never celebrated a New Year’s Eve AND a wedding like that. The bride skating? In a wedding dress? Apparently this is what you get when you get a hockey player and a figure skater together, magic on ice. It’s so encouraging to see how Meaghan and Kyle took a fun and carefree approach to their wedding day. With the dress causing occasional tangles, it wasn’t a perfect 10 performance but it was a perfect 10 for fun, novelty, love and celebration! Welcome to 2012! Wow!

And check out Meaghan’s unique bouquet – a collection of antique brooches from family and friends! Another 10.

More comprehensive, stunning Short Film coming soon.

Melissa & Goran – Cinematic Wedding Film Highlights – London/Kitchener Videography Cinematography

These two are total awesomeness! Totally fun to be around and shoot! Happy vibe throughout the day, reflected in their film.

Check out their Serbian accordion playing and dancing, fun loving Italian/Sicilian families, a stunning Kitchener ceremony with a newly crowned king and queen, and running around downtown London on the hottest possible day!

And then there’s Pinky the bear who’s been adopted and renamed with a Serbian name and Sammy the dog who extraordinarily lived until the wedding but died just after. RIP

Lena + Ryan’s Wedding Cinema Highlights – London, Ontario Videography

Lena and Ryan’s wedding had many things going for them. One was a great venue and great lighting (thanks to the family’s PA Shop resources). Quality was at the forefront of every detail, including having to find another classic Rolls Royce the morning of their wedding after their other limo could not make it!

They left plenty of time in the schedule for shooting and this enabled us to really create this magical film for them.

Most powerful of all, check out all the love and admiration they have for each other! These guys are in love!

This Highlight is like their epic Feature Film but super compressed and on steroids. Magical, fairy tale, enchanted, dramatic, epic, emotional, fun, feel-good, funny, sentimental, sad, and romantic. The more personal, touching, funny, and even sad stories were reserved for their longer emotional roller-coaster film.

The title of their film comes from a card one of the little girls wrote for the couple.
